The experts in boutique travel To Peru and South America

Lima Hotel Review: Villa Barranco by Ananay Hotels

December 15, 2023 by Anabel

A big part of the job that we do here at Incas Expert is helping travelers make smart choices about where to stay during a trip to Peru. That’s why, beginning with capital city of Lima, we’re visiting hotels and passing on the intel to you.

Our latest discovery: Villa Barranco by Ananay Hotels.

This boutique hotel boasts just 9 rooms and a fantastic location in bohemian Barranco. It is simultaneously cozy and modern; informal but stylish. And we think it’s a winning combination.

Villa Barranco occupies one of Barranco’s historically significant houses. It was constructed in 1923 under the direction of Polish architect Ricardo de Jaxa Malachowski and declared a national monument in 1987. The years-long restoration has recuperated stunning ornamental features such as the colorful mosaic designs that adorn the exterior.

Lima Tours:

The hotel has 9 rooms on two floors. On the ground floor: two deluxe rooms and four junior suites, two with private gardens. On the upper floor: one junior suite with balcony, one junior suite with private terrace, and one master suite.

Each room comes with a desk, flat-screen TV, wardrobe, complimentary WiFi, and ensuite bathroom with bath amenities.

Our favorite room is the gorgeous master suite. The bedroom is super spacious. And the bathroom features a double sink, shower, and freestanding bathtub. This room also has a separate loft and a private balcony with partial ocean view.

The common areas at Villa Barranco are just as cozy as the bedrooms. Head to the charming rooftop terrace and enjoy the lounge chairs and ocean views. From Thursday to Saturday, a private bartender is on staff. Interested guests can learn to make pisco or chilcano sours.

Down in the dining room, a large communal table is where guests gather to take breakfast in the morning. Don’t worry if you sleep in, because breakfast is served until the last guest wakes up.

Once you do manage to get out of bed, you will be well-positioned to explore Barranco’s many varied attractions. Walk around the corner to the Malecon (coastal promenade) for views over the Pacific Ocean. Or go one block north to the gorgeous tree-lined Avenida Saenz Peña where you will find turn of the century mansions, art galleries, and the destination bar-restaurant at Hotel B. Stop at Dedalo store and gallery to pick up a one-of-a-kind souvenir.

The people behind Ananay Hotels have big dreams for Villa Barranco.

They’re planning to restore the house next door. And they also hope to install a swimming pool in the next few years. We think this dreamy property will become even dreamier.

The article “Un hotel boutique con historia” in July 2017 edition of Cosas dishes out the details. The article is in Spanish, but you can use Google translate to read in your preferred language.
